Discover Your Path to Healing
Welcome to a safe space where your journey towards self-discovery and emotional well-being begins. I believe that understanding your unique values and strengths is the first step in overcoming life's challenges.
I’m Alyssa Hamel, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I have a passion for helping people navigate life’s complexities and reconnect with their inner strength. My journey began at Springfield College, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, and continued at Boston University, where I received my Master’s in Social Work. Since becoming independently licensed in 2012, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and families in diverse settings—from primary care to domestic violence shelters to outpatient treatment centers and many community based programs.
My work is grounded in the belief that true healing happens when we align our thoughts, emotions, and values. To help clients achieve this balance, I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Relational Person Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Somatic practices. Every person’s story is unique, so I tailor my approach to meet you exactly where you are—without judgment, but with curiosity and compassion.
In addition to my clinical training, I have pursued specialized education that allows me to take a more integrative, whole-person approach to healing. I am currently completing advanced certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International, building on my completion of Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care in 2017. I earned my 200-hour Embodyoga Teacher Training certification in 2012 and completed the Nutrition for Mental Health certification with Leslie Korn, PhD, in 2019 and again in 2026 to deepen my understanding of the relationship between nutrition, the brain, and emotional well-being.
As a Reiki practitioner, I incorporate mind-body approaches for clients who are interested in integrating these practices into their healing process. Over the past several years, I have also devoted extensive study to ADHD—particularly the unique ways it presents in girls and women, the impact of masking, and the challenges associated with late diagnosis. In addition, I have completed advanced training in suicide assessment and intervention, grief and bereavement, anxiety in athletes, trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based approaches that support the complex needs of my clients.
Whether you're untangling the effects of past trauma, navigating a major life transition, or simply longing to feel more like yourself again, I'm here to walk alongside you. My hope is to provide a space where you can deepen your understanding of yourself, strengthen your resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change—one step at a time.
